SQL Saturday #9

SQL Saturday #9 in Greenville, SC
11 October 2008

Well I attended my first SQL Saturday event this weekend and had the pleasure of hearing several excellent speakers on varying topics.

Kathy Malone's session was all about the "plumbing" of Green and Sustainability.

Rob Schoenborn gave us instructions on how to scale SQL server for large datamarts.

Lee Johnson demonstrated how to use the CLR to create triggers in SQL server to perform database auditing.

Stuart Ainsworth showed us how to do SQL Server performance tuning from a developer's perspective. And he also lead a very spirited afternoon open space discussion which I enjoyed.

During the course of the day I ran into a previous business associate that I had not seen in over 10 years - shout out to Rick who joined several of us at the after party event!

Oh, I forgot to mention that at the end of the day they called out raffle ticket numbers for prizes and I won a prize! There were several items to choose from on the prize table so I took home a great book "Sams Teach Yourself Windows Server 2008 in 24 Hours" by Joe Habraken!

Wow! A great geek event to fill up a 12-hour day!
Can't wait for the next SQL Saturday!
